In the Los Angeles workshop during one of the sessions when we were talking about the power of images and especially those that the kids create (the Invisibles), someone mentioned something about a book called The Arrival. They may even use it in their CI classes. Craig West has found a PDF version of that book online and he says that he really likes the images. This post is simply an effort to find out who uses the book and how. Craig would appreciate your contacting him at craig.west@puhsd.org
Thanks in advance for any help with this request.

I mentioned in the Portland workshop that I use it with second year kids.
I got a copy of the book this summer and haven’t quite figured out what to do with it. Would you mind sharing your ideas with me, as well?

Today I talked about belonging with students. How to say that something belongs to you we discussed the family in the first image for The Arrival and how each thing may belong to a different member of the family or to one specific person. You can find PDF version of the book online and project the images for the whole class.
I know this book, The Arrival. Great idea! Craig, did you do this with your heritage or non-heritage classes?
I definitely think I should start using this book and the images in my heritage class. Thanks for bringing it up!
