I got this interesting email from a colleague. It shows how people are changin:
I was starting to think I knew most of the basics about TPRS, and then Carol [Gaab] and Terry [Thatcher] both blew me away [at a workshop]. Using this method is simultaneously so simple and so complex – so much to learn, and yet so much that is easy to do. It’s incredibly freeing and wonderful that it continues to morph – or maybe expand is a better word.
One of our new Chinese teachers walked into her adult class on Tuesday night and wrote me a letter about what happened after she suddenly switched to TPRS that night, after a month of the traditional approach. The whole class came up and thanked her. They told her excitedly that they had understood every word she said. I think she’s sold, mainly thanks to Terry, who managed to teach a room full of teachers how to tell a story in only half an hour.
