So far, I have the full support of my department and my admin to teach French like Ben and Tina suggest. It has been so amazing to see the students following me in French on Day 2! Even those students who have never had French before are following and super involved. They leave with big smiles on their faces and so excited to be there. The language that comes out of our OWIs is much more complex than I ever would have used before, but because it comes from the students, they follow it. Seriously, who would have ever thought that a class of beginners would learn that their character has no parents because it is the result of a scientific experiment or that it lives in a forest under observation?
