Targetless Instruction – 5

Robert said today:

…while I may criticize strategies, activities, methods, and approaches, I should not criticize (i.e. attack) motives; rather, I should attribute positive motives to others. Even the most rigorous grammar-driven teacher ultimately wants his students to be able to communicate in the language – or at least I need to assume that until proven otherwise….

I think we have all grown enough over the past few years that we recognize that our discussion here is never meant to attack any individuals. Those who teach in ways we don’t are not to be criticized. We know that, but the recent comment thread on the Brits – 3 allows me to just remind the group that I am very happy that the vitriol – mine included – that we had going here in the past is gone. For example, in our discussion of targetless TPRS instruction we are doing nothing more than supporting targetless TPRS instruction. No one is being attacked. It is for each reader here to decide how they want to react. This blog is for stirring the pot. Claire found a big spoon lately.
