Philip Smith in Ireland shared some great stories he had created with his class using one word images last spring. Here is another one from his files, for those planning on using the Invisibles this fall. Worth noting is the nice inclusion in the body of the text of drawings. Notice that Spike’s small size as a monster is made clear with the hand next to it – a trick we can coach our artist’s to do.

Ben,
The character in the story “Spike” appeared in a number of stories. He died and came back to like in many a time. Any time his name was mentioned as a possible character in the story we were doing we laughed. This story was fully created by them. I just asked simple questions like where does he live?…what does he want? etc. for this story particular to come to life.
It brought a smile to my face today when I found it. I just love the students drawings.
