SGOs/SLOs

We’ve been having a conversation about Student Growth Objectives (SGOs) or Student Learning Objectives (SLOs) as they are called in some places. Below are my last six over the past three years – we have to turn in two per year. I met four objectives and failed to meet two. So really everything is in how you write the objective. Here they are for those interested:

Expected Growth 80% of students enrolled in Period 7 French 2 who took the district World Language Pre-writing test and who attend 85% of the time will score between 7 and 9 points as per the District World Language Writing rubric in April of 2013.
Baseline 80% of students enrolled in Period 7 French 2 scored below a 7 on the World Language District Writing Test.
Learning Content Students will acquire a variety of French structures which will enable them to continue their French language learning.
Strategies Comprehensible Input, TPRS, embedded readings, reading of short novels, interactive communication in French.
