Ridiculous Conversations 3

Here is the last of those ridiculous conversations. But there are hundreds of them all over the internet going on every day. Are the kids really that bad? Is there anything that their behavior may be trying to address to these adults, in the only way they know how? Did these teachers really get sent the wrong students this year?

I have a class or two that have terrible attitudes and I am sick of it. Your suggestions for turning around a classroom atmosphere that is so negative would be appreciated.

Today I thought we would have some fun by applying what we are learning through a song and video. We did a cloze activity for the song, then listened to it. All throughout the song they were talking loudly with each other, not even following along. So, I stopped the song and gave them a written assignment. Then, I did another cloze activity with Jim’s “¿Puedo ir al baño?” video. It’s silly and goofy and meant to be laughed at, but this class took it really seriously. One student at the end blurted out, “Stupid! Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!”

Any suggestions for turning this around for the last few weeks of school? Thank you so much!
