Just FYI, Chris has been asked to present in 2014 in St. Louis as a Central States Conference “All-Star” because his recent session at CSCTFL this spring was received so enthusiastically. That really is quite an honor for a young teacher just starting out. If you remember, his session was about staying in the target language.
I had asked Chris to keep us up to date on this, and he sent me the email he got from CSCTFL:
…due to the popularity of your session, I would like to invite you to present your session again at the 2014 Central States Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages in St. Louis, Missouri as an “CSCTFL All-Star” session.” The conference will take place March 20-22, 2014 at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark. The theme for the conference is “Unlock the Gateway to Communication…”.
Receiving this invitation is doubly impressive when you consider that Chris has spent the bulk of this year not only teaching full time but raising a family AND finishing up a Master’s Thesis on comprehension based instruction. (So if you wondered why we haven’t heard from him much since last fall, that’s why.)
We congratulate Chris and celebrate this honor with him! Many of us could never have gone into such a conference and walked out having been voted as one of the favorite sessions in the entire conference! Personally, I would have probably had a few tomatoes thrown at me, for all the tact and grace I have when talking about this stuff to new people.
Great job, Chris!
