Report from the Field – Bradley Donaldson

Ben,

I’m on a prep now, but I cannot contain myself. Tears are welling up in my eyes. This is my first year using TPRS and CI, and I dived into Circling with Balls with all my 7th and 8th graders. They are COMPLETELY into it.

I’ve shocked them AND myself by staying in Spanish 90% of the time simply by circling their information and adding cute details. Donde? Con quien?

In one of my classes we have a kid who plays tennis with Superman in the North Pole. Es obvio! Another plays basketball with an elephant in the white house. Duh!

They and I love that the class is about them. No more worksheets that force them to be robots or memorize and forget dialogues. We’re going to laugh together and talk about each other in my class. We’re going to hang out in Spanish together.

This wouldn’t have been possible without Blaine’s workshop, your book Stepping Stones and all the discussions we have on the PLC.

This is what I became a Spanish teacher for.
