I’m in since we met at Breckenridge. I write great letters.
Totally, sign me up – what would I do without your JGR!!!!!
Thank you! I actually did not intend for this to be a post, but all good. It is a reminder (not that we need it) that we know each other’s work and core intention in this group in a deeper way than anyone else knows, except for our students. Kinda cool!
I don’t know what “job” is next in line for me. I am currently teaching adult classes, a lot of yoga and doing reiki. I feel like these will merge somehow. I am planning to present something at the NH language conference in the fall. And I will be in Maine at Skip’s conference too, possibly assisting Sabrina and who knows what else. I have an idea I need to run by Skip 😉
Just last week I had a “random” opportunity in a local school. I am working with a student on a yoga ELO there. She was absent, so I ended up visiting a Spanish class instead. This teacher had contacted me a year ago to come with her dept. head to observe some of my classes. Anyway, the visit turned into an impromptu demo (shaky…but whatever) and dialogue / Q&A right there in the class about “the TPRS method.” Really unexpected. I thought I was going to sit and watch the class and talk later. Dept. head was there too! I don’t even remember how that evolved. Long story short–I had a longer conversation with dept. head afterward. He is hung ho wanting to lead the dept into CI !!! I hope to meet with him again. Gave him info for Skip’s conference and urged him to join this group! Woot!
Oh, and Ben…don’t you remember we actually met first in St. Louis in 2011?! Remember the Sauk language classes…and Kate…and those conversations in the bar (I think with Jacob?) about how his grandfather / elders would gesture organically during storytelling. I still use the same past, present, future ones he showed us. Powerful energy…whoa!
Yeah I do and apologize. I feel as if I have known you and skip forever. You two and several others in this group give credence to Kurt Vonnegut’s idea of the karass.
And yes I remember those Sauk teachers. They disappeared back into Oklahoma to do their work. But in St. Louis we were privileged to see something important, and also from the Chickasaw and Euchee representatives of their nations, along with the powerful Kate, who may still read here from Florida. That whole thing, watching those native Americans dealing on a daily basis with the results of the invasions of long ago, trying to save their languages in a way that we could never know, blew me away, honestly.
I don’t know if you saw this video made by Jacob:
