I had said earlier this weekend that RT embellishes what we do in Step 3 reading classes, but that is a mistatement. Actually, Step 3 reading is all about working from the class story created in step 2. RT has nothing to do with the three steps, and everything to do with reading novels, making novels come to life.
Reading Option A is, in my opinion, the way to process stories with students. So, if you are working in the classic TPRS format of the Three Steps where a reading is generated from a story, then RO-A is what to use. However, if you are reading a novel, which is an entirely separate animal from the three steps, then Reader’s Theatre is the way to go.
