Indeed! I was blessed to hear a student today chatting about how much he enjoyed Spanish versus other classes simply because he is allowed to be himself and isn’t asked to do busy work. He’s super outgoing, wiggly, and social which in some classrooms gets him in trouble. Lucky for me it has already given me tons of fodder for PQA and mini-stories. It’s been awesome to see.
He can be himself. What a gift.
And how could we ever measure how our classroom is a safe space for so many such kids? Why is it that the real data is immeasurable? Things that are real can’t be measured.
