As we all wind up our individual years, with so little time to do much more than compile grades, fill out end of year reports, and have inane conversations with posers who can’t figure out why we teach this way, etc. we should probably thing about taking a long summertime break.
Needless to say with the recent thread on assessment it could go on and on here through the summer (we are defining something), but why? The time until August here on the blog will perhaps be best served by resting now, spending time with loved ones, and regaining our strength.
If you are going to iFLT and want to be in on that (Thursday afternoon) assessment session, sign up online if you want at the iFLT 2016 site. Carol is fitting that session into the master schedule this week but it’s not done yet. I am asking Carol to give PLC members priority. We are going to cap the room at 30 for that session.
So I am going to post a lot less, hard for me but I am going to try. I’ll be packing and getting ready to head back to Denver. Landen and I have a few days in New York City for some time Broadway time (Les Misérables and Jersey Boys) before we actually get back to Denver.
Upon arrival home, I will just walk into my back yard and lay down and stare up at the Colorado sky and thank God for governments that work to protect people from bad air. Not satisfied with America? Try India. It’s the best and the worst of humanity and corruption in government and the resultant emergency situation in Delhi is the cause.
I hope all can agree to this plan. Plus, with 5, 986 articles and 46,121 comments here over the past ten years as of today, it’s not as if there isn’t anything to read here, plus we can go to Robert Harrell’s new kick ass blog and also visit each other’s blogs if our junkie natures come up. But hopefully we just learn to relax.
I will post, people can send me stuff, and we can continue to comment, but let’s tone it down from our usual insanity. For teachers, summer is the time to go inward. This is also a great time to add new pics of ourselves just being in our classrooms like John started and Claire and I have posted.
I need the rest, and you need it. We have done so much this year, so much work! But we’ll be cranked up sooner than we think next year, so this is a preventive mental health measure.
