Ownership

A kid who was playing the role of a dust bunny today couldn’t fit under the table where the class said he was yesterday, under a certain table in the room. I said it didn’t matter and just asked him to sit on the floor in the center of the room to be the dust bunny. The class went nuts. They said he had to sit under the table where they said he was yesterday. I apologized and fixed it. They accepted my apology with a look of “don’t try that again!”

Oh, Class Ownership of the Story! I bow down to you! Oh! Sublime CI Goddess of Personalization, I now see! After 15 years of doing this work, I get it that it is most important to keep you – Class Ownership and Personalization – in mind at all times when doing a story. I will do better. I will remember that if it’s not all about the kids, it ain’t about nothing.
