Wow. Well structured. I used to do this style of presentation in my first year. NT can have tons of structure but it is routines, activities and expectations that drive it. I started REAL loose and now I am reigning it in with some assessments as per my principal who wanted me to throw the students a bone. That said, I think that is a delicate balance between student ownership and comfort versus interpersonal expectations (see ISR/jGR). It’s something that I have struggled with this year.
I have definitely struggled with structure. For me, this is super helpful! Thanks for sharing, Nyssa!! I will try using this set up with my two first year classes. After having done a few OWIs a while back, this will be a perfect structure to start up again as we head into 4th quarter. Merci mille fois 🙂
