Membership Reminder

Please note that free memberships will be terminated this weekend. I think of our group as a real PLC where we meet and some talk and some don’t but they don’t leave the room and walk around the halls, which is how I have come to view the free memberships.

This PLC started with the vital need to be tucked away from judging internet eyes, then I offered free memberships once we were private because it seemed like a good idea, but now I sense that if people don’t pay for the PLC they don’t stay at the table.

Again, it is fine if a person does nothing but read and learn, but I have found that those free members don’t really even do that, so why should they be with us? If that makes sense.

A second point here is that new PLC members are asked to send in bios of where they are with comprehension based instruction, where they work, etc. Just click on the “group members” category to see examples. It is the polite thing to do because we are all sitting at this table together.

By the way, I feel as if the discussion has been overly intense for the five months or so, in the sense that we are changing so fast, putting new ideas into our classroom with such passion, that from time to time I want to just have a few days with no posts, even though the queue is jammed.

Does anybody else feel that way? It’s like it’s a bit too much. So, if you see a few days with no posts, that is the perfect time to go back over the thousands of blog articles (do a search on the topic of your choice – PQA is a very popular search topic, for example.)
