  1. The look on their faces. So true. If only I could get some of my sourpuss teenagers to laugh unabashedly.

I like how the class chorally said “Daaaa-da-dum-dum” after Elissa said, “Qué problema.” That choral response in musical chant… that’s cool.

  2. Hi all,

Thanks so much, Ben. That is quite the testimonial!

And thanks to everyone who watched the video… It went from 300 to 500 views in just a couple of days… not quite viral yet, but on the way! 🙂

For those who don’t know, I left my K-8 Spanish teaching job last year to focus on developing Express Fluency. I am loving this work with adults. It’s so cool seeing people who had given up on learning a language suddenly realize that there really isn’t anything wrong with them!

    BUT…

Starting a business is harder than I thought it would be.

This is a plea for your help!

I need help getting the word out.

A language class can be a hard sell to someone who shivers when they remember their high school classes… And the thought of a weekend in a language class sounds like torture to many people.

That’s why it is so amazingly helpful when people who understand about CI help spread the word.

Right now Express Fluency classes are happening in VT, MA, ME, and NY (and co-teaching with Grant in MN this spring!) (and hopefully offering a trip to Mexico with Jody Noble someday soon!) but my vision is to offer many other languages in cities around the country/world. (Once I develop the business model the blog will be the first place I go to look for Express Fluency teachers.)

But first I need to get students in my current classes, and get more people asking for Express Fluency classes in other places.

So, how can you help spread the CI love to adults? I happen to have a few ideas…

And I would be tremendously grateful for your help along these lines:

    1)Tell your friends/colleagues/family about us!

    2) Share the video and the website on your social media (www.expressfluency.com, video link: http://youtu.be/57mE2XZoDL0)

    3) Add a link to Express Fluency on your blog if you have one. (Send me your blog info and I’ll add it to my page of teacher resources.)

    4) “Like” us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/expressfluency).

    5) “Follow” us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/expressfluency).

    6) Join our mailing list if you want to get updates about future classes. http://escuelitaspanishschool.us2.list-manage1.com/subscribe?u=d6c19497741de2342f95d90d5&id=4b0725b938

    7) Send us any ideas you have about how to get the word out.

    8) Do you have any connections to businesses or organizations who might want to train their staff in Spanish?

    9) Even just visiting the web site from time to time helps in terms of getting us recognized by google searches!

    10) I’m always open to feedback on the web site, video, etc…

The more of a “buzz” there is about TCI for adults the more people will be able to have positive language class experiences! (And the more likely that Express Fluency will grow and flourish!)

I am deeply grateful for any support you can give!!

And for those of you with questions about teaching adults, I am happy to share my thoughts and experiences.
    (elissa@expressfluency.com)

    With deep gratitude to all,

    Elissa

    1. Turns out there are a couple of churches that might want you to come up in January/February. I’ll keep you posted, obviously, or rather, put them directly in touch with you.

It’s possibly the worst time of year to come to Anchorage: shortest daylight, coldest time, and sometimes the worst weather. On the other hand, it can also be filled with Northern Lights and brilliant sun on sparkling snow. Hard to know in advance.
