   This is the 50,000th comment so I put it in bold letters:

   YAYYYYY!!!!!!!

   Everything in this post rings true for me. As I read it I kept thinking I might copy and paste and show it to my adminZ. At this point in the year, when the budget cuts are looming and real and one colleague already found out her position was cut…I feel like I have nothing to lose. They may wanna cut the language positions (both of us in the dept. are expensive bc we are old…so city council will likely eliminate the program altogether or cut one of us. Very creepy to know pretty much one of us is on the chopping block). They will probably have the kids use online courses BUT if they keep at least one live teacher, they will get the sense of belonging AND language.

   I cannot wait to read this book! I cannot wait to meet Beniko in person at Cascadia!!!! Yippeeee!!!!

   Jen congratulations you made the 50,000th post. I will take your name off the PayPal thing and send you all the books and Anne Matava’s as well, as she has generously agreed to contribute her story scripts to this prize package. It is fitting that you should be the winner, for your contributions to the group over all the years have reached so many hearts because yours is so open and so clearly focused on what is best for the kids.

   Thank you so much for being a part of this community. Maybe you can be a double winner in 2027 when we hit the next milestone of 100,000 comments. That will depend, of course, on what God will have decided to do with us at that point. It hasn’t been easy for either of us, right? We can say that with truth. But it has been good as well, and I am sure that you would agree.

   We have both been in heavy levels of stress over long periods of times as language teachers, like so many others here. But that same stress, since it has not destroyed us, has brought us great internal growth that others cannot see. Let’s raise a glass this summer in Portland to how tough we are! We will have a little ceremony to honor you. That will be fun! Maybe get a cake and flowers. You should be honored – you have worked SO HARD!

   Everyone will be honored. I just happened to be that one comment. This whole community is to be celebrated! Every day! We will definitely toast the PLC in Cascadia. I am looking forward to seeing people in real life!!! <3 🙂
