  1. This “build a bridge” approach has strong implications for those who teach upper levels. I once asked Beniko Mason, who along w Krashen was reading my book A Natural Approach to Stories in 2016, if she thought the approach outlined in that book would be good blended with her Story Listening approach. I suggested 50/50 on instructional minutes given to each. She suggested 80/20 in favor of the Invisibles.

I always kept that in mind and now for the first time w what is suggested above I can see two years of Invisibles and then the upper levels of Story Listening being a plan that anyone who teaches 1-5 should investigate, of course w room in the upper levels to do the Invisibles whenever desired.

It idea of a five year curriculum addresses the “upper level problem” beautifully, which has never been properly addressed. It articulates and gives traction to the problem that lower and upper levels of language study have never been turned into a workable (i.e. flowing) taxonomy that finally allows the instructor to align w the research.
