I teach Spanish 1 & 2 at Joliet West High School in Joliet, IL. I have been teaching with TPRS/CI for around 10 years now. A colleague of mine stumbled across a Blaine Ray Workshop, was instantly converted, and immediately began teaching with TPRS. He began sharing the wonderful results he was getting with his students with me. I was impressed. I began observing his classroom on my prep periods so that I could learn TPRS. I started using TPRS in my own classroom and never looked back.
I have been to several Blaine Ray and Carol Gaab workshops and two NTPRS conferences. I discovered this PLC through reading Ben’s books and website. I joined the PLC because I like being a part of a community of people who just “get it”. Although I have been doing TPRS for a long time, you never arrive. There is always more to learn – more to wrestle with. In the short time that I have been a member here I have learned about “Textivate” and started using it in my classroom. I appreciate that the members of this group acknowledge that this path we have chosen is hard. I admire their willingness to support each other through it.
