From John Piazza:
On Latin Best Practices today, John Bracey shared some real insight about the traditional way of teaching grammar. It certainly resonates with my experience, as both teacher and learner of Latin:
“I think that it is hard for traditional teachers to recognize that their students, even their superstars, are not actually retaining the grammar concepts. They don’t recognize that their students are re-memorizing all of those charts over and over again before assessments. Their superstar students will trick them into thinking that long term retention is possible, but this is just an illusion. For every assessment they are practically starting over from scratch. ”
