Japan

I just got this from Martha Nojima in Japan:
In the last year TPRS Japan has become a community. We have several members in Tokyo and then most members are south of Tokyo. We have three members in the north. All three of them read the blog.
Jack Taylor runs the TPRS forums. He is in Hokaido – the northernmost island. Aimee ( Japan Gumby) lives in Yamagata – the prefecture next to the stricken area. Dominic Jones is in Sendai – the worst hit area.
I haven’t heard from Jack, but Hokaido was not in the tsunami.
I finally heard from Aimee last night, the earthquake was bad, but her house was not damaged and though they don’t have running water she and her family are safe and warm.
Ben and I met Dominic at IFLT last summer. By some miracle Dominic was able to get a message out on the first night. He said he and his family have shelter and food, but no electricity, but he is safe.
We would ask for continued updates from our colleagues in Japan.

    1. Thank you Carol! Robert, Laurie, Jody, Doug, It is so good to hear from you. It really has helped keep our spirits up.
      Thank you, thank you!

  1. Hi everyone, thank you for your concern. I’m ok. The earthquake wasn’t very bad here in Sapporo, but it did put a crack in the wall of the staff room at school. We have 24-hour rolling earthquake coverage on TV, and the phone service has been patchy, but that’s about all that’s affected me personally. I’m just glad to hear that Dominic is ok – it must have been terrible for him.
