Very well said! I’ve seen that activities almost always get in the way of the language deeply entering into the students’ minds. By their nature activities require thinking about the activity, the steps to completion, what one has to do, etc., which takes focus away from the language.
Well said James. I knew from experience that my activities were doing little to nothing for real language gains, but never fully understood why until reading your comment.
