Ben,
I am in my third year (as of 2013) of teaching Latin at Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri. I am the only Latin teacher in my district, which gives me a lot of freedom. I started on a path of CI at the beginning of this year. Actually it has felt more like falling down a hole, but it’s getting better now as I get more time to observe the forest instead of just the trees. Since the beginning of this year I have gone from implementing more spoken Latin in my classes (something I had never really done, aside from reading the passages my students couldn’t understand out-loud to them, but I did it with emotion so I felt I was doing a great service!) to circling and asking stories to no longer focusing only on my textbook. Honestly the philosophical shift has been way too profound for me to explain it at this time, as someone who learned (about) Latin without really every hearing a word of it. I hope it will suffice for me to say that I am sold on the value of CI and would find it physically painful to return solely to traditional methods.
