I got this from Ben Lev this morning in Sebastopol, CA (just north of SF). Tina and I met Steve at a summer workshop organized by Erik Olsen and by Don Read:
Hey Ben, here’s a PLC success story:
My teaching colleague just wasn’t working out (no class control, speaking English in class, losing papers, unwilling/unable to be trained and move forward) and my charter high school admins and I agreed we had to find a replacement asap. Steve Ford knocked on my door and came in to my classroom last month, just out of the blue. He found me through the blog! He was working up the street at another high school and needed to get out of there. Long story short, we canned the other teacher mid-year, Steve quit the other school and now he’s is in place. Students, Steve, admins and I are happy. AND he’s a hard-core cyclist too – we stayed late bs-ing about frames….
Ben
