Hold On To Your Hats

The George Floyd killing will reverberate through every facet of American life, and from there, to the world. An entire system of oppression is being exposed. It will reach everywhere and the change will be unlike any seen in the history of the world. This is my belief.

That is why Trump had to get elected, to expose the dark underbelly of the beast of white-induced injustice in so many areas of life. It had to be exposed. It has been going on too long, so long that many of us, all God’s children, have forgotten what He wants from us, and how to behave.

If it is true that this is the “real thing”, that George Floyd’s life was not lost in vain, and if the incredibly apt metaphor of a white man’s knee on a black man’s neck – symbolizing all forms of inequity in our society including the LGBTQ movement and all the inequities currently being foisted on kids in EDUCATION – then hold on to your hats.

How can our field of language education not be affected? Krashen was just the beginning. Holy shit! I’ve never written on this site five words that I’ve meant with more sincerity, in all of the millions of words I’ve written on this site, than these – HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS! And if the BLM movement in your classroom doesn’t happen, try to figure out why.
