Judy,
I am thinking about being in Agen for your conference…I am trying to pull off a hat trick and do all 3 conferences this summer. I will know if the stars line up sometime in March.
I have purchased my airline ticket!
I too have registered and purchased my airline ticket!
It’s going to be fantastic!! Sending you all wonderful vibes and Agen 2016 is already on my calendar (whenever you pick a date lol)
with love,
Laurie
I will probably be there again. Looking forward to meet some of you!
Well, I have registered in the meantime and purchased my airline ticket today.
Looking forward to seeing all of you. Martin really inspires me because this will be his third trip to Agen. When people keep coming back, I know we’re doing something right.
It’s time for an update, I guess. We have 40 people coming, which is what I consider an upper limit because any more and our site will start being crowded. I’m particularly happy that so many people who were there last year or the year before are returning, showing that they enjoyed our workshop. The participants are coming from nine different countries, including Japan, Poland, Turkey, Spain, Great Britain, France, Canada, the US and Germany. I’d like to be able to present more TPRS materials. I explain to people that Ben’s stuff can be downloaded, but many people still like to have a book and turn the pages and write in the margins. I’m really looking forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
Another update. I have discovered a British author who writes mysteries for both adults and young people in French. Her name is Stephanie Benson and she has a series of 12 books for young readers called Tip Tongue that is published by Harrap’s. Her rather original technique is to start the book in French (L1) and gradually introduce English words (L2) with explanations until by the end of the book everything is in English. The book I bought uses the point of view of a 10 year old boy going to England on a school exchange. At first he understands very little that his English host and her family say to him, but the girl occasionally translates and he figures some things out, so his vocabulary increases and the French gradually fades away. There’s a mystery to keep the reader intrigued and turning the pages.
It’s really a good deal because the audio can be downloaded for free once you’ve bought the book. The best part is that I found out that she teaches in Bordeaux at the university. I contacted her and she has agreed to come to Agen for our workshop and present her books. I’m sure Krashen would approve.
Judy, that is such a cool idea for a book. I’m looking forward to meeting her.
Robert, I hope you will bring along some of your books to show the other participants. The two ladies who are coming from Poland teach German.
