I’ve been working with Marcel who is a teacher of English in Morocco with primarily intermediate students from Russia. We may be nearing some kid of much-needed breakthrough in reaching this population of language learners. I think we’re in the process of “purifying” some of the research on this. I won’t go into it  here. But I feel more confident than I have ever felt in my own experience in my long-standing efforts to bridge that long-standing and very annoying gap between what we do in WL education and what the ESL/EFL community is doing. I won’t report back here on this until I’m sure that we’ve opened up some inroads where in the past there has been nothing but futility. One thing is certain – there is lots to think about before making any big announcements.
