Did You Get a Bad Review?

If you are in one of those situations where your admin team is so ignorant about the Communication standard and the research (90% of school principals fit into this classification), then have hope. Why? Because if you get a bad review by such a person, let the observation get filed. NO ONE will ever go look for it. NO ONE will know about it. No one will ever CARE about it. Why?

Because it’s like a mechanic for the airline being asked to evaluate how the pilot flies the plane. He doesn’t know!

Moreover, the tenure of the average principal in our country is 4 years and when they move on, there goes your last headache with that person. In fact, as we speak, the shift to CI is on and the number of ignorant admins about the research in CI, etc. is steadily declining . (Not only do principals leave buildings frequently – only 11% of principals are in their position for ten years or more.)

Protect yourself. Play dumb. Don’t fight the establishment. Let time go by. Teach the junk you have to and then do as much CI as you can after that. Avoid discussions with colleague idiots who, not surprisingly, get pleasure from complaining about you, even though you have happier students. Let time pass. I don’t know of anyone who has been fired for getting bad observations when observed.

Isn’t it odd? You get good engagement from your kids, you’re working and getting better at CI each year. You’re growing. And they want to take you down and fling you fifty years into the past, where they still live.

To repeat – no one can take you down for a bad observation. They don’t have the money or time because they have bigger fish to fry, those teachers who need to be gotten rid of – oh, you know the ones….
