Defend Blaine’s Vision

To the degree that I may be responsible for bending Blaine’s original vision of TPRS, I apologize. My intent was honorable – to help other teachers like me who were blown away by the magnitude of the change and wanted some stepping stones to help them along.

But it’s getting out of hand. TPRS is becoming unrecognizable. Instead of sticking to Blaine’s original intuitive vision, we are moving further and further away from a way of teaching based on what Blaine has given us. Now that I have four books out of my system, I intend to do everything I can to get back to basics as I move more and more into the twilight of my own career as a language teacher.

Blaine’s vision really was the formula for Coke, and, although I don’t drink Coke, I see Blaine’s vision as the only way forward for TPRS if we are not to get into an unrecognizable form of it over the next five years or so.
