I really like the idea that there are no losers or winners, but that we tell our own kids that they won, we can call that a Win/Win situation.
You can’t change the fact that kids DO like to compete. I personally don’t like competition but they do (most of them anyway).
So everyone is happy. I am happy as a teacher because :
1) I get to collaborate with other teachers on this blog whom I highly respect and admire.
2) my kids see that I m not the only crazy French teacher teaching this way out there.
3) I’m happy b/c my kids get to hear the same story structures again , and hear some more reps in a disguised way, which is what I WANT TO DO DOING CI.
4) I’ m happy b/c the brain craves novelty (credit Susan Gross) and this is a novel way to teach and a change of pace for the kids.
5 ) I m happy to see my kids watching some other kids just like them thousands of miles away and be blown away by it. We are teaching culture/subculture here.
6) but most importantly I m happy b/c my kids are happy.
I’m OK with the rules and can’t think of any other ones to add at the moment.
