Ben,
We had an inservice day and all of us had to go to the high school for workshops. I ran into one of the high school Spanish teachers (keep in mind nobody at the high school knows I do TPRS) and she mentioned to me that she went to one of the Blaine Ray workshops being run by Von Ray a few weeks ago and she’s been dabbling in TPRS. My jaw dropped, I told her that I’ve been a few workshops and I’ve been doing TPRS everyday. We were both so excited to have found allies in each other and we will be supporting each other as we go through this journey together. She’s been hit with a little resistance from one of the teachers at the HS, a real hard-headed textbook grammarian, but the resistance basically just consisted of “I’m not doing that tprs stuff, yea right!” Luckily, she wants to go into guidance eventually. I’m just so excited and relieved to have found an ally at the high school, something I didn’t expect to find. Another great thing, we have a new Japanese teacher at the high school as well and she observed our new-to-TPRS Spanish teacher doing her thing and now she is dabbling in TPRS as well. The tide is changing here, I”m very optimistic!!!
