I got this today:
I am in the process of working to get my teacher certification. In my state you can submit an extensive portfolio of work to a “peer review” panel and get you can get certified that way. It is a huge amount of work to put together and I am up to my eyeballs in it right now. One thing I need to include are a bunch of “standards-based lesson plans”. I am not in the habit of writing these. My lesson plans are the structures and story scripts… Do you think this is something appropriate to ask blog members for help with? I know some schools require people to submit formal standards-based plans…. mine is not one of them. I can google this and find lesson plans, but I’d love to draw upon plans that are related to the way I actually teach. I thought perhaps there are fellow TPRS teachers who can share examples with me…. I posted this once on moretprs and got no responses there. What do you think?
My comment: we do have a category for lesson plans here but it needs a lot more samples. It only has two links. I will add some there – the ones I submit each week myself – soon. If anyone has any fancy standards based plans to send (they all now reflect ACTFL almost exactly so it doesn’t matter what state), make sure to send them in email form to benslavic@yahoo.com and not make them into a comment. We need to make them into blog posts that can be then searched or found under the “Lesson Plan Bank” category. Thanks in advance for helping us build the lesson plans category into something we can use.

I can’t chime in now, but by January, I too have to begin my portfolio based on the NJ Core Standards. I just don’t have time to look at it now, but would be interested in sharing ideas and examples.
There you are. I wondered where you were. A little on the busy side, I would imagine, because you always seem to getting more and more graduate degrees. Which is good for us as well as you!
Hey Carol! That question was from me. I’ll be done with this process by January so I’ll be able to share ideas with you then.
Thanks for posting this, Ben. Hope people send you stuff 🙂
Thanks, Elissa! Yes, I am swamped right now. TPRS has worked so well for me that my 9th grade class has swelled to 31! A far cry from a few years ago when it was suggested that I “get some Spanish under my belt” !! Grateful but tired in NJ.
This is a link to the Maine group’s site, where Skip has posted a lesson plan template he would like feedback on:
