Brick House 2

Showing the kids how the relative pronoun bricks and all those other bricks fit together is a waste of time. It’s all done in English. It’s like making the kids do a picture puzzle. So few even want to complete it. Maybe none of them does, but those who do so, do it out of love and devotion for their GPA.
All the students want to see is the house. Their bored looks state as much. But the teacher, oblivous and stuck in the magical thinking that teaching a langugage in this way actually works, despite no results year after year after year, continues to make the kid stare at those two bricks until the test if over. It’s almost comically inefficient!
I was meeting with some teachers once and mentioned ACTFL and the proficiency guidelines and one Spanish teacher asked me if I was talking about the ACT test.
