There is very little that we can depend on in this new way of teaching. It is a scary proposition to retool to align our instruction with the research.
None of us is an expert. We are all just feeling our way forward here in the beginning days of this true paradigm shift in our profession. We will always have doubts and fears about our ability to teach using comprehensible input.
But we simply can no longer defend the worksheet/translation method anymore. That horse has left the barn. We can’t teach grammar anymore. We can’t use the textbook anymore. Grammar study is not how people learn languages. People learn languages via comprehensible input.
