I love jobs! They cemented my classes last year. I had a job sheet that the students chose from every 2-3 weeks. I had a job for each student that they had to show to me that they had done in order to get a grade. I have all large classes this year and wanted to see what advice you all have. I don’t think I can have enough jobs going all the time for students to all have a job. I don’t want to over manage it, but I do like the accountability of them turning in a short report of what they have done to earn that easy 100.
Katie to avoid the paperwork, and this is just me, I just act really grateful all the time that they are working for me, and tell them that doing that job will definitely help their grade. But then lazy is my middle name. Why did I get drawn to CI/TPRS? Because it is a great way to teach? Uhhh, ok but I just love all the time spent not counting things.
I was thinking that these middle school kids might not see the humor in being fired, especially since many don’t know our man D. Trump, so this year I will probably hire a person for the length of one story each for the three big jobs, and then just pick the best one after a month or so.
What a great idea — hire them for one story, then make the switch —
