I was reading this article and as I was reading it, I realized that AWE is exactly what your STAR curriculum allows me experience with my students in every class.
It especially resonated with me when the article explains what awe causes:
“ It makes us curious rather than judgmental. It makes us collaborative. It makes us humble, sharing and altruistic. It quiets the ego so that you’re not thinking about yourself as much.”
And when I read this, I said to myself that with the STAR curriculum this is what I feel happening in my classroom everyday.
The students and I are constantly in awe of the stories we create, the art we create, the language we create and the relationships that blossom because we can be filled with awe when we learn about each other. We just happen to be doing it in another language.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and guiding us towards discovering awe in our teaching.
