Hi Ben,
I needed a brain break/game yesterday and one of my students suggested we play a game we had played last year. It was the good old ¨Heads-up, 7 up¨. Of course we played it in French, giving me the chance for a lot of reps on ¨I think it was _____ who tapped my thumb.¨ And, after the seven in the seats had guessed, those in the front who had not been found out, would say, ¨I tapped ___¨.
The students really like to find out who has tapped their thumbs! This worked well for both my 7th grade and my 8th grade students. I find the game is good for about 10-12 minutes, and it gets kids out of their seats. I also turn off the lights when the seven are going around tapping the thumbs of those who have their heads down and their eyes closed – it adds to the mystery and makes it just a little more special. This was a good Friday in April activity for me!
Best,
Don
