I love the deep thinking that Laura expresses below:
Hi Ben,
Yes, the forces of darkness (lying, cheating, bullying, etc.) are dominating our times in this swing of the pendulum. Not everyone has the determination and strength of will to battle administrators, parents and colleagues constantly, who don’t seem to get how simple it would be to resolve the problem in our profession of bored kids bc of boring, ancient pedagogies.
In my school most students and their parents only care to get a high grade without conflict in Spanish. I have received many comments from parents and/or students about how Spanish was the class they ‘learned’ the most with the least effort, but the ones that are unhappy with their grade never seem to ask/care about how much they are learning in class. I think a great deal of the limitations for teaching with your true CI come from teachers themselves that just can’t let go of that control over content. Maybe it’s a power thing from the teacher.
So, I am nearing the end of my career and looking forward to a great year with the Ultimate CI books.
Have a great summer!
Laura
