Michele found this blog from a year ago. One paragraph reveals that I was out of L2 probably 40% or more of the time, and only this year on Diana’s challenge to all of us in DPS was in 90% or more of the time. I finally made the switch after nine years. How many of us were under 50% this past year? If so, we lie to ourselves that we did any teaching for acquisition. My current interest in and respect for reading that now defines my current relationship with this stuff wasn’t there a year ago. We have so much to learn with this stuff, y’all. We claim to do listening and reading CI but we really don’t – we bullshit ourselves and Krashen, and may be years away from being effective because of that tendency, the tendency to claim that we are doing things as per Krashen but aren’t – not really. And then we wonder why our colleagues don’t think much of our input based instruction – it’s not input! We have a long way to go before we can say we are actually walking the walk on CI, proving again that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Anyway:
