    1. I feel the same way Emeka. Especially with level 1s. I feel that I teach much better with mini-stories and the language goes deeper then with untargeted stories. I maybe doing something wrong.

  1. This is what I do now instead of PQA. I just do a mini story with the target I’ll need for the script the next day. My students love them because they are unscripted. Yesterday I did ayuda – helps. The students did a little mini story about the zebra from Madagascar needs help from Joey in my class to hide the evidence of a crime.

Just start with a student and the verb. Then ask “where” and “with whom” and watch them fly.

    1. I love this. David Sceggel, what grades do you teach? Does anyone have a recommendation of a video to watch where you start with a target and go off unscripted? Also, I’m assuming, as a newbie here, that when asking the story, kids can give answers in L1? Or do you only ask the questions w/answers in L2 that are names of places or people?

    2. …just start with a student and the verb. Then ask “where” and “with whom” and watch them fly….

This is the basic form of the Invisibles format, except that we start with an image of some character, no verb (letting it emerge), and ask those questions, which often lead to a nice cute problem to solve.
