Exactly. What I was trying to get at a few posts ago with examples like painting and playing a musical instrument. Mindfulness is perfect. There is a magical place that we fall into. Time ceases. When student grumble because the bell has just rung and class is over– you know that you had all fallen into the magic place.
I call it the Pure Land. I found that place a few times years ago. It has been harder to get there since I moved into the urban jungle. But I still seek it.
That’s why I will keep going with this approach till I can do it.
Also I want to say how I respect you guys so much for having the guts to follow this approach within the schools system – because you would have a soooooo much easier ride if you would give up all crazy, messy, unpredictable, improv theatre stuff and stories (I mean, stories are for kindergarten aren’t they?) and did a proper respectable grammar lesson…and some nice tidy gapfills… and then plugged the results into a lovely excel worksheet…
That is why this group stays small. This is no game for the weak, faint-hearted, fearful or lazy.
