A Language Fabric Forms – Conclusions

With the activation of the conscious mind via circling, targeting, gesturing and overly simplistic novels written to satisfy high frequency lists while generating little student interest, teachers miss a golden opportunity to really connect with their students.  With the increasing interest in non-targeted input, the teacher can now discover new and exciting ways to reach their students at more interesting and, on good days, even compelling levels. This means creating scenarios that are more about the students and their place in the classroom community and less about the frequency lists and district curricular documents. This is the shift we are in now.
