This internet space started as a public TPRS blog about 20 years ago and evolved into this private PLC 15 years ago. During those years, as those few who have been with us for all those years can attest, we have discussed mostly everything under the sun in comprehensible input instruction.
There was a lengthy evolution (of 16 years) into TPRS and a rather rapid departure (of 4 years) away from TPRS, a kind of natural progression in and out of what is still considered mainstream CI thinking, but not in my own mind.
Many of us still do TPRS, and that is a good thing. We need to do what is best for us individually. My own departure from TPRS doesn’t mean that my books on the topic don’t have value – I have been reminded lately not to throw out the baby with the bathwater and that is not my intent. I just need to walk my own CI path, as we all must since there is no one best way to teach.
New members to the group can read about all that here:
One thing is certain – the focus here has always been on finding, defining and implementing the best way for each of us as individuals to teach a language – TPRS or NTCI (the Invisibles) or something yet to be invented!
