Category E Question – 1

Q. I’m planning to do my first story from an ICI today and was wondering if you always use the problem on the back of the ICI paper in the story.  Or do you present that problem and ask the class for a better suggestion?  I’m thinking for my first time, maybe just to stick with what’s on the paper, but this class has lots of ideas usually.

A. This is a great question showing that you have read carefully. There are many answers, of course, because we all end up doing the Invisibles differently. Before I respond, I would like to say that Category E is the best category. It brings the best stories and except for the One Word Image category (F) is what you will end up doing most of the time, since Categories A-D are really just lead-ups to Categories E and F, which bring true power in a way that in my 20 years at this CI game have no comparison in CI strategies, not even close, and we’re talking about at least 2000 pages of strategies/writing I’ve cranked out over all those years. (I’m done inventing strategies – I’ve found my thrill.)

You are on the timeline as well, as per:

Actually you are two months early on Category E. So kudos on that, since this is your first year with CI instruction. Wow!

OK I’ll get to the specifics of how to create the problem in the next post. Actually the details are in the book somewhere in the Q and A but I can’t find it. I’ll make it simple though.
