I just completed my first three days at a new school using CI for first time. It is an urban high school and I have only two levels: German I and II. In many ways the week went well. But there were times when I felt panic. I notice that especially when a particular point runs out of energy. I want to keep the ball rolling and may make some bad decisions: for example I may too frequently return to questioning (Who?, Where?, ….) that has become boring. Or maybe I find myself taking on a suggestion from the class or student that I think later may not have been a good choice: something that is just too crazy long … (“..he sleeps with a Manga body pillow” for example.) I imagine that the answer is to just chill a bit b/c one gets better at it with practice. But I have felt lost at times and pretty incompetent at guiding the creation of the story as well as I should. Thanks for listening. I’m really appreciative of your work and this group.
