It seems to me that TPRS is a hallway that teachers pass through when they find out about CI & Krashen’s theories. Almost no one remains in the hallway- they go on to other things: NTCI, w/ the Invisibles content-based, an eclectic CI approach, Storylistening, reading novels, etc.
It’s necessary for most to pass through and from time to time we go back to the hallway to borrow some of the good tools TPRS offers or to refresh our memories on certain techniques, but we don’t remain there.
I really know of only 1 school that is strict TPRS (Blaine Ray only) curriculum.
Fair assessment Greg. I do wish that the hallway had been less cluttered. Also shorter. That hallway was 20 years long.
