Play Your Instrument

Your body/voice are your most important instruments in this work. Learn to play the instrument in the CI orchestra that you’ve been given. This is Performance Skills 101.
You have to do CI in a way that reflects the instrument that you have been given. Your instrument is yours and no one else has it. If you are a trombonist, you cannot be a violinist, because you are a trombonist.
So teach in a way, stand and move in a way in your classroom that reflects the timbre of your voice, the internal feel of your body, and explore how mere awareness of what you are saying is not the sole determinant of who you are as a teacher.
Just always remember that there is no one way to do it, and that you cannot be “wrong” as long as you are owning and tuning your own instrument in this grand new CI Orchestra that we are all playing in now, for the enjoyment of our students, so that they can at least experience a little bit of relaxation and self-confidence in school.
In God’s name we pray.
