Time to Reflect – 6

In the vein of defending the right of textbook teachers to not align with the research and standards since they are doing the very best they can, and in the spirit of free and open dialogue, I must apologize to Neal and Robert.

When they correctly called me out on the Pooh cartoon, I responded with a strong defense of my position. I won’t go into it but upon reflection I see that I was wrong not only to defend the sentiment in that cartoon, but also to post it in the first place.

Trump is doing the best he can. We are all doing the best we can. We are not in charge. We are very lucky to be living in a free and democratic society in which we can say what we want, and we should be able to say what we want here on the PLC, but within the bounds of overall kindness towards our fellow man.

The only exception to that is the one aforementioned exception that if the discussion here begins to be taken over by a voice that threatens to throw the balance of the discussion here off, or if some voice is hiding an agenda to take make people think in a certain way – their way – then, since it is my blog/PLC – I have to throw them off.

It’s fair in the interest of keeping the discussions balanced so no one topic takes over. Doing that is actually my job as the moderator here.
