We forget how happy we can be when teaching. Although I am filled with fear in the photo below, with Dr. Krashen in the classroom that day, I remember how happy I was, at least trying to make it work. Just look at those kids’ faces. That tells it all. That is why I am a teacher.
I publish it here on my birthday after a VERY long time on the planet and I raise a glass to all who, similarly feel the fear of teaching and go in and do it again the next day anyway. This photo was taken toward the end of my career after I had taught about 34,000 classes.
